Privacy and cookies policy

This is a courtesy translation provided for convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the Portuguese version prevails.

This policy describes how the unclepredictor.pt website and the corresponding Android application collect, use and protect users' data. Uncle Predictor is a social football prediction game, with no money betting and no monetary prizes.

1. Data controller

Uncle Predictor - a personal project, based in Portugal. Contact: unclepredictor@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect

• Account data: name, nickname, email address and a participant code. If you sign in with your Google account, we receive your email and name from Google - never your password.
• Game activity: your predictions and pre-predictions, Jokers used, competitions and leagues you belong to, scores, and comments or reactions you post.
• Notifications: a technical device identifier (notification token) so we can send you deadline and result alerts, if you authorise notifications.
• Minimal technical data: information stored on your device to keep you signed in, and technical access logs generated by the servers.
• Advertising data: see section 6.

We do not collect location, contacts, photographs, or payment or banking data.

4. Data visible to other participants

The game is, by its nature, a competition between participants. The following are therefore visible to others:

• Your nickname, in the leaderboards and in the leagues.
• Your predictions, but only after each match's deadline. Before the deadline, no one can see what you predicted.
• Your score and your history of correct predictions.

Your email address is never shown to other participants.

5. Where we store the data

We use technical processors, each with its own function:

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In those cases, the transfers rely on the mechanisms provided for in the GDPR, namely the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or applicable adequacy decisions.

6. Cookies and advertising

On the web pages, Uncle Predictor displays advertising provided by Google AdSense. Advertising is not displayed within the Android application via this route.

Types of cookies and similar technologies

• Strictly necessary. They keep you signed in and ensure the basic operation of the game. They do not require consent and cannot be disabled without preventing use of the service.
• Advertising. Used by Google and its partners to display ads, measure their performance and, if you consent, personalise them based on your interests. They are only activated with your consent.

Your consent

On their first visit, users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland receive a consent request through Google's consent platform, certified under the IAB TCF. You can:

• Consent to the use of advertising cookies;
• Not consent - you can still play normally, and you will see non-personalised advertising;
• Manage options - choose purposes and partners individually.

Refusing is as simple as accepting, and you can change your choice at any time through the consent management option available on the site, or by deleting the cookies in your browser.

Ad personalisation by Google

Google, as a third-party provider, uses cookies to display ads. You can review Google's practices and disable ad personalisation directly in Google's ad settings. More information on how Google processes data on sites that use its services is available in Google's partner sites policy.

7. Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your data. Data only passes through the technical processors listed in section 5, to the extent necessary for the operation of the service, and may be disclosed to authorities when required by law.

8. Retention and deletion

Account data is retained for as long as the account is active. You can request deletion at any time, by email or via delete account.

A note on a technical limitation with consequences for third parties: each participant's rarity bonus is calculated from the predictions of everyone else. Deleting the predictions of an account during the course of a competition would retroactively alter the scores of third parties. For that reason, where there are predictions recorded in an ongoing competition, the deletion of the game data may only be completed at the end of that competition; the identifying data of the account is removed or anonymised straight away.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights write to unclepredictor@gmail.com, stating your nickname.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority - in Portugal, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

10. Minors

The service is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The advertising displayed is not targeted at minors. If we become aware that an account belongs to a child under 13, it will be deleted.

11. Security

Administrative access to the data is restricted to the person responsible for the project. Passwords are never stored in plain text and communication with the servers is encrypted. No system is completely immune: if a data breach occurs posing a risk to your rights, you will be informed as required by the GDPR.

12. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated. The version in force is the one published on this page, with the update date indicated at the top. Material changes will be communicated within the game.
